Officers Were Given Quota to Arrest Illegal Immigrants, 150 a Day.

infoIt is reported that the Border Patrol agents under the Homeland Security Department working about 100 miles north of the Mexican border say they have been given arrest quotas and they would be punished if the quota is not met in the arrest of illegal immigrants.

Obama Signs to Extend Health Insurance to 4 Million Children, New Immigrants Included.

infoOn Feb. 4, 2009, President Barack Obama signed a bill that went directly from the House passage to his office to extend health insurance to 4 million children.  The law is known as "State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP)" which for the very first time included immediate medical coverage for children of newly arrived immigrants instead of having to wait after living in the United States for five years under the previous regulations.

DHS Secretary Ordered Review on E-Verify & New I-9 Implementation Delayed.

infoEmployer's ability to verify the new hires personal identity and employment eligibility electronically through website access is commonly known as E-Verify.

August 2008 Visa Bulletin

infoUS State Department announced its August 2008 Visa Bulletin recently and it came with both good news and bad news:The good news is all Employment Based 2nd Preference for all countries remains “Current” with the exceptions of China and India which both sprang forward substantially to “June 1, 2006″ from their last month’s “Jan. 1, 2003,” or almost 3 and a half year leap forward.

Visa Bulletin Announced

infoNov. Visa Bulletin was announced and it indicates substantial improvement on all categories for all countries. Specifically, all preferences are now current for all countries, except the 3rd preference still has 5 to 6 years backlog for all countries worldwide including skilled workers and other workers, and China and India still have a little backlog in the 2nd preference as well but much better picture than before.
