"A" Visas: Foregin Government Officials Print E-mail

"A" visa category is reserved for "Foreign Government officials" mainly foreign diplomats and their supporting personnel and staff to the United States, including their immediate family members. There are multiple sub-class under the "A" visa class, namely:

  • A-1 for foreign diplomats, mainly: ambassadors, public ministers, career miplomatic or consular officers and member of the immediate family members;
  • A-2 for Other foreign government officials or employees, and members of their immediate families.
  • A-3 for Attendants, servants, and or personal employee of A-1 and A-2, and members of immediate families.
  • Many of them enjoy diplomatic immunities.
